Nature Reserve
This is a general high level plan for the nature reserve, we are in the process of gaining permissions and project design. Much of this feeds into our grant funding applications.
Sponsor a Hedge
We have several miles of hedge to plant at Northcroft Meadows Nature Reserve and are looking for sponsors. This is a fantastic opportunity for organisations looking to offset their carbon footprint and invest in biodiversity. We have created a £1000 standard unit of materials for 25m of hedge, so that you can see what you get for your investment. You can simply choose a number if units and see how much CO2 you can offset. We then pool investments to benefit from the economies of scale from large orders, meaning you will often get much more return. We do scientific monitoring and will provide you with reports on your hedges progress and estimated CO2 absorbed.
We are now fundraising for this winters planting season. Read more here…
River Restoration
The river is on the move, the lay of the land is changing. We are starting to look at more long term projects in the land surrounding the nature reserve. Especially how our land is changing and contributes to flooding in Newbury. Something needs to be done and we are trying to align the various stakeholders to this fact.
These plans are far more ambitious to achieve and will probably not quick to do, but just common sense when you look at it on the ground. There are many very successful river restoration projects like this up and down the country, they attract significant funding, we are trying to draw attention to the threat of flooding and the opportunity for bio-diversity here. An opportunity to follow well practiced techniques for the good of all.
